A rigorous, technically accurate training manual for experienced photographers who want to develop expert-level Adobe Photoshop skills for photographic post-processing.
Philosophy
This is not a beginner Photoshop tutorial or a collection of tricks.
The goal is to teach you to understand images, understand Photoshop's underlying concepts, choose appropriate tools deliberately, and perform precise, controlled, preferably non-destructive photographic edits.
Every technique is taught concept-first: you learn what happens to the image data and why the technique works before you learn how to operate it. Exercises require you to diagnose the image before choosing the tool.
Prerequisites
You already understand:
- Photography, exposure, lenses, RAW files, composition
- Basic digital image processing concepts
- Photoshop's basic interface (menus, panels, tool palette)
You do not yet have deep understanding of Photoshop's internal concepts, and that is what this manual teaches.

How to Use This Manual
Read sequentially for the first pass. Part I and II are foundational — every subsequent chapter builds on the concepts established there.
Use as a reference later. Each chapter is self-contained enough to revisit independently once you understand the foundations.
Do the exercises. The exercises are designed to test understanding, not procedure. They require you to diagnose the problem before choosing the tool.

RECOMMENDATION — A practical workflow recommendation from the author. One valid approach among several.
VERSION NOTE — Feature behavior that depends on the Photoshop version. Verify in your current version.
UNCERTAINTY — Information that could not be confidently verified. Check current Adobe documentation.
